The cast of Mobland, Guy Ritchie’s new series about organized crime in the UK (a subject that apparently holds no fascination for him at all) got their gangster style on for the series premiere in London.

Now this is the kind of theme-dressing we can get behind. What a fantastic take on the classic pin stripe. Love the shoes, but we wonder if they and the shirt and tie should’ve been in brown.

That’s gonna have to be a no from us. An interesting twist on menswear, but ultimately, blazer and sportscoats are designed to not be tucked in. This just looks goofy to us.

It’s giving Elphaba but we’re not mad at it.

Beautiful color, but the idea of a velvet crop top is just silly.

The proportions are terrible, giving the impression that the “bodice” (using the term loosely) is straining mightily just to keep the skirt from falling to the floor. It’s an unsalvageable design and very little could have been done with the styling to improve, but those shoes are just about the worst choice.

It just looks like they didn’t have time to finish the dress.

Hate the tank top but the suit is chic.

Pierce Brosnan

Chic, classic and luxe as hell. He should have gotten the pants hemmed, though.

Well. It’s an attempt. Given his predilection for hitting red carpets looking like shit, we suspect he got talked into doing a little gangster theme-dressing. Our take on semi-formal menswear has always been: if you’re standing there in uncomfortable shoes, a tie and a vest, you’ve already made the commitment. There’s no extra effort or discomfort involved in getting the details right. The fit here is weird all over and the presentation has a sullen teenager quality to it, but the pieces are decent. That’s not how you wear a fob.
