The 3rd season of HBO’s highly successful and critically acclaimed series The White Lotus drops this Sunday (we’ll have thoughts in next week’s podcast). and the mostly brand-new castmembers all hit the red carpet for the season premiere last night in LA. Let’s opinionate.
Aimee Lou Wood in Burberry
The color looks great on her. We hate all of the ruffles but none more than the one hanging off the hem. The ubiquity of black pumps on the red carpet is starting to force us to reconsider our longstanding dislike of matchy shoes. We feel like a red pair would work better her.
Carrie Coon
LOVE this. The green pumps peeking out are fun. The fit is damn impressive.
Jason Isaacs in Zegna
It’s fine. Inoffensive. Professional.
Lalisa Manoban in Miss Sohee
It’s unusual and eye-catching, but it would need some edits before we could call it pretty.
Leslie Bibb in Balmain
We retired the “Do you not have a mirror” joke a long time ago because it had become such a cliche, but SERIOUSLY. We do NOT understand how someone goes out – in front of photographers, no less – in a dress shaped like this. She looks like she’s wearing a leather diaper with a train.
Natasha Rothwell in Naeem Khan
Gorgeous. Bridget Everett, why can’t you just do this? She’s comfortable, unfussed, and looks amazing.
Parker Posey in Gucci
On the one hand, if there’s any celebrity who should be running headlong into a “wacky old broad” persona, it’s Parker Posey. On the other hand, we feel like she’s way too young to be styled like this. This looks like one of those “last public appearance” photos of some aged star from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Patrick Schwarzenegger
Damn, son. You had us completely until we got to the ankles. What the hell is that hem job? Did you shrink?
Sarah Catherine Hook
Enh. We don’t love the color, tiered hems, or the overuse of marabou feathers in fashion. Despite all that, she looks pretty.
Walton Goggins
He’s got enough swag to make up for it, but we hate that color.
