At the Directors Guild Awards. The Substance star Demi Moore wore the ultimate “all eyes on me” dress.
It is, of course, another reference to the film’s most memorable body horror moments. It’s interesting to us that she’s started indulging in theme-dressing now, at the home stretch, rather than during the film’s promotional period or before the Oscar nominations came out. We guess she and her stylist Brad Goreski must have figured that all of the film’s gross-out moments have been spoiled and clipped for social media by this point and that it would be a good idea for her to loosen up and have fun with it. She’s been talking quite a bit lately about the Academy’s historic avoidance of awarding horror films, so this might just be part of that ploy. It’s a cute idea. Is it a cute dress? We’re not sure. The eye motif doesn’t bug us because it’s relatively obscure and you have to really stare at it to realize it’s staring back at you. We think we’d have liked this quite a bit more if it were lined. The undies are a distraction.
