Club Crazy Pianos – The Hague, Netherlands
Well, it’s TUESDAY again, dammit. May as well spend it in a wacky LOunge, yes? Yes. Pull up a seat and spend the day sitting on your favorite star’s face.
From playing Marie Antoinette to Bohemian Rhapsody: how Tatler cover star Lucy Boynton became one of Britain’s bravest actresses ahead of her starring role in A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story
First gracing our screens as a young Beatrix Potter in 2006, Lucy Boynton has forged a career as varied as it is virtuosic. For her latest trick, the actress takes on the story of Ruth Ellis: the Knightsbridge nightclub manager who became the last woman to be sentenced to death by hanging in Britain. Can’t keep up? Tatler revisits her most iconic roles as she graces the April cover.
A mysterious Hungarian countess aboard a murderous train journey through a winter wasteland; A legendary British author who created perhaps the most famous rabbit in all of literature; a ‘hyperbolically privileged’ mean girl whose machiavellian run for class president put the camp firmly back in campus. Could Lucy Boynton be the country’s most versatile actor?
The English Rose’s next role? A Tatler cover. The April issue sees Lucy Boynton reveal all about her star turn in A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, which will see her play the last woman to be sentenced to hanging in Britain. Ellis – who escaped an abusive childhood to manage a ritzy nightclub in Knightsbridge before shooting her racing driver lover outside a pub in Hampstead – is no doubt a challenging role, requiring a performer of chameleonic subtlety.
Fortunately, Lucy Boynton has forged a career by defying genre expectations. The 31-year-old may have made her name playing Freddie Mercury’s close confidant Mary Austin in Bohemian Rhapsody, but with twenty years of experience in the industry, she is as at home in biopic as she is psychological horror, as comfortable playing the Bloomsbury Group as she is a Proust-reading Barbie.
The real Ruth Ellis? As Lucy Boynton prepares to play the last woman to be executed in Britain, Tatler tells her tragic true story
Ruth Ellis escaped an abusive childhood to rise to the top of London’s nefarious nightclub scene – but history remembers her as the last British woman to be sentenced to death after she murdered her racing driver lover. As Tatler cover star Lucy Boynton stars in A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, learn the truth behind the tale
The last woman to be sentenced to death in Britain was hanged on 13 July 1955, at one minute past nine precisely. Ruth Ellis was not late to her own execution, nor was the sixty-second delay caused by any interference on her part – she had admitted her guilt the moment her lover’s body hit the ground, and it had taken the jury just 20 minutes to find convict her of shooting him. The last woman to be sentenced to death in Britain was not killed at nine am on the dot because she was the victim of a prank call.
Roberta Flack, 1970s ‘Killing Me Softly’ Superstar, Dies at 88
No cause of death was available for the singer whose “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” was featured in Clint Eastwood’s 1971 directorial debut.
Roberta Flack, the beloved, Grammy-winning 1970s singer best known for such hits as “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly” died on Monday (Feb. 24) at 88. At press time a statement from Flack’s spokesperson revealed that she died peacefully, with no official cause of death available. […] A classically trained pianist from an early age, Flack received a music scholarship at 15 to attend Howard University and was soon discovered singing at Washington, D.C., nightclub Mr. Henry’s by jazz great Les McCann, which led to her signing with Atlantic Records. She scored her first break in 1971 when Clint Eastwood used her version of the moon-y ballad “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” in his directorial debut, Play Misty for Me.
Could Practicing ‘Intentional’ Solitude Be The Key To Boosting Wellbeing?
Self-care clichés and enforced solo time have skewed our perception of solitude. But with more and more research pointing to its positive potential, Amelia Bell discovers that carving out alone time might just be the key to boosting wellbeing.
That’s not surprising – solitude has a bad reputation. It can feel shameful (the ‘loner’ makes an easy target at school) or unsafe (the legitimate fears of a woman walking home alone). In fiction – from fairytales to film – the foibles of the lonely, unlucky-in-love protagonist reinforce the idea that being alone isn’t good. There are even stats to back it up: in the pandemic, one study equated the negative health impact of loneliness to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Aimee Lou Wood And Walton Goggins ‘Designed’ Their ‘White Lotus’ Sex Scene With An Intimacy Coordinator
‘It was important to keep those scenes.’
Chelsea and Rick seemed to be on questionable terms ever since they first appeared on The White Lotus this season. He keeps shutting her down and shrugging off her unyielding positivity, and she runs on a wavelength he just can’t keep up with—and then there’s their 22-year age difference. But the second episode of season 3 reveals a softer, gentler side of their relationship when they sleep together.
When it came to filming this bedroom scene, Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Chelsea, felt well-supported. The actress worked with the series’s intimacy coordinator, Miriam Lucia, as well as her co-star Walton Goggins (Rick) and showrunner, Mike White, to make sure everyone was comfortable for the sequence that required nudity and portrayals of sex.
Fine Hair? This Is How To Make A Pixie Cut Work For You
All the tips, tricks and techniques to nailing 2025’s most coveted cut.
For those of us with fine hair, it often feels like our styling options are limited. We tend to steer clear of looks that might draw attention to our hair density—think topknots or bobs—and instead gravitate toward styles that add volume and create the illusion of fuller hair, such as Hollywood curls or a bouncy blow-dry. For this reason, you might think a pixie cut is totally off the cards for you…but you’d be sorely mistaken.

I tried doing the humble cat-cow pose every day for two weeks to help me ease some tightness and tension in my back – here’s what I discovered
A more supple spine, here I come…
“You’re only as young as your spine is flexible,” so said Joseph Pilates, the OG creator behind the low-impact practice of Pilates. And if that’s the case -thanks to years’ worth of sitting for longer behind my desk than I should – I’m old before my time. So could doing cat cows every day for two weeks help? After hearing about yoga instructors rave about the move, I decided to put it into practice.
“Cat-cow pose is one of my favourites as it’s a comprehensive movement that involves transitioning between two positions: Cat Pose (Marjaryasana) and Cow Pose (Bitilasana),” explains yoga instructor Ayesha Bell. “This dynamic stretch is typically performed on all fours, making it accessible to nearly all fitness levels,” the yogi adds.
It’s okay to feel hurt when celebrities lose weight – but let’s unpack it
Ultimately, this isn’t about Selena Gomez losing weight; it’s about a culture that continues to tie a woman’s worth to her weight.
When Selena Gomez stepped onto the red carpet at the 2025 SAG Awards, her visibly thinner appearance sparked a wave of reactions from fans. Many felt betrayed by the physical transformation of the singer and actress, who has come to be a symbol of self-acceptance and vulnerability for many – and I think this sense of betrayal is something we need to unpack.
It’s easy to understand why fans might feel hurt or, at least, conflicted: Selena has been open about her body image issues in the past, sharing positive messages about her weight fluctuations as a result of medication and slamming commenters who body shame her. In a sea of already-thin A-listers who appear to have become even thinner thanks to the rise of weight loss injections like Ozempic, Selena stood out as a figure who represented a more relatable body type – a size that is far more common within the general population. Her presence felt like a refreshing departure from the increasingly homogenous beauty standards dominating Hollywood.
19 best satin bridesmaid dresses (AKA 2025’s most popular choice)
A more affordable alternative to silk.
When you hear the word ‘wedding’ and all the connotations of it, we wouldn’t be surprised if visions of satin bridesmaid dresses floating down the aisle come to mind.
The silky soft, luxe-looking fabric is the most popular among bridal parties, because it does all the jobs silk does without the super spenny price tag attached. A dream for brides-to-be on a strict budget. Jewel tones, pastels or neutral palettes…satin bridesmaid dresses come in every hue and pattern under the sun, and will complement the texture of your wedding dress, regardless of whether you’ve opted for lace, tulle, chiffon or crepe.
Satin is a heavy hitter amongst the fashion pack, too. Coperni’s now iconic Disneyland Paris runway saw Kylie Jenner close the brand’s show in a striking satin ballgown for SS25, and Dries Van Noten brought the slip dress back to life with striking greens and oranges.
17 best dance movies that have us raving all night
From Step Up to Honey and Shall We Dance?
Dance movies have never failed us, no matter what our emotions.
We have vivid memories of where we were when we watched Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum explore their chemistry through dance in Step Up and when Jessica Alba showed off her slick moves in Honey. There was also the time we thought we could win the street dance battle in You Got Served and actively memorised the choreography for Hairspray for an impromptu performance in front of the family(yikes). So, we can safely say that the world of dance has always entertained us in movies.

Boho, hippy vibes are making waves once again after their last peak during the Olsen era of the early aughts. Already raffia bronde is shaping up to be the relaxed cool-girl shade of this summer, bringing with it a laidback, free-spirited feel that we’re so ready for right now.

Aerin Lauder’s “Living With Flowers” Is a Visual Ode to the Emotional Beauty of Blooms
In 2005, Rutgers professor Jeannette Haviland-Jones sent out three different thank-you gifts—a candle, a fruit basket, and a floral bouquet—to over 100 women who had recently participated in one of her psychological studies. As it turns out, this was one more: secretly, the delivery person was measuring the facial reaction of each recipient as they laid eyes on their present for the first time. Going over the data days later, Haviland-Jones made a surprising discovery: everyone who got the flowers displayed a Duchenne smile—a sincere expression considered by psychologists to be “the sole indicator of true enjoyment.” In short: it’s scientifically proven that flowers make you happy.
The Best Kids’ Movies of 2025 to Get Your Family Excited About
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen such a strong roster of upcoming releases!
I still remember with horror the beginning of 2023, when there was a months-long fallow period between Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Super Mario Bros. Movie where there were no new kids’ movies being released into theaters. While we made do with at-home re-watches and a few theatrical revivals, as a movie-loving family we yearned for our cinema outings.
The year 2025 seems, to my eyes at least, the opposite of those darks days. (Woo-hoo!) The schedule is packed — the year starts out strong with a new Wallace and Gromit — and families are spoiled for choice when it comes to the best movies to watch. These are the best kids’ movies coming out in 2025, listed in order of release date. Like any year, there are plenty of sequels to old favorites and live-action remakes of classics. But there are also interesting original stories, both in live action and animation, that might jump-start some new fandoms. Take a look, and mark your calendar with your favorites. (And in between new releases, make sure to catch up with the best kids’ movies of 2024.)
Roberta Flack, Virtuoso Singer-Pianist Who Ruled the Charts, Dies at 88
With majestic anthems like “Killing Me Softly” and “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” Ms. Flack, a former schoolteacher, became one of the most widely heard artists of the 1970s
Roberta Flack, the magnetic singer and pianist whose intimate blend of soul, jazz and folk made her one of the most popular artists of the 1970s, died on Monday in Manhattan. She was 88.
She died en route to a hospital, according to Suzanne Koga, her manager and friend. The cause was cardiac arrest, she said. Ms. Flack revealed in 2022 that she’d been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, which left her unable to perform.
After spending almost 10 years as a Washington, D.C., schoolteacher and performing nights downtown, Ms. Flack zoomed to worldwide stardom in 1972, after her version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” was featured in a Clint Eastwood film.
“I’m Just Ready to Fucking Dance”: Kicking Off the Mayhem Era With Nick Gaga
“I might be a little bit famous, but at the end of the day I’m still your local drag queen,” exclaimed Nick Gaga, clad in a black sequin ensemble, on stage at the Balcon Salon on Saturday night. But before she ever graced our Instagram feeds as the world’s premiere Lady Gaga impersonator, she was just a young kid with dreams of leaving her native Russia. After being brought onstage by Gaga herself at the Moscow stop on the Born This Way Ball Tour, Gaga—Nick, that is—would go on to spend the night backstage with Mother Monster, talking about music and her plans to eventually move to the United States. This past weekend, with the release of Mayhem just weeks away, Nick Gaga stood tall with bright lights shining in her eyes and her feet buried in dollar bills thrown by adoring fans. Now, she really was “a little bit famous.” Minutes before her two-hour Gaga extravaganza, we gabbed about our manifestations for the Mayhem era and her one piece of advice to aspiring Gaga impersonators (over a pack of Capri Blues, of course).
