For the Grammys, Billie Eilish decided to dress up as Lily Tomlin circa 1991.

Or maybe that’s Fran Liebowitz circa whenever. Regardless of its inspirations, we like this direction for her. It’s giving that ’90s Prada minimalism, but it’s also got that roomy sort of awkwardness that she prefers in her pieces. We realize a little bit of quirk is to be expected, but we can’t get behind the Gilligan hat, the dangling strings or the blank “KICK ME” sign. The general style really works for her, but they piled on way too many idiosyncratic touches. We’re not loving the return of tiny shades. They’re so pointless and useless.
