Everyone’s favorite drab little angel doffed her halo, threw a jacket over her wings, and descended to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in order to pick up an award. Look, if that sounds a little bitchy, we’re sorry, but it’s the first – and only – image that came to mind when we saw these shots of Angelina Jolie on the red carpet.

Just drab and sad all around. We don’t care about the soaked hem, although it wouldn’t be nearly so noticeable if she’d worn anything worth focusing one’s attention on. There’s a way to do this sort of neutral minimalism and have it look chic and elegant. In fact, she’s managed it plenty of times. But this is clearly a “I didn’t get the Oscar nom” sort of dress. We get it, but you couldn’t put on a bangle or a cocktail ring?
