Danielle Deadwyler has what looks to be a powerful new film coming out and we’re hoping it continues her streak of critical acclaim and awards recognition, because she’s a talent who deserves a big career, in our opinion. She’s also a talent at picking oddly striking looks for the red carpet, which she demonstrated once again when she attended the BFI London Film Festival premiere of The Piano Lesson in a big, ruffly Chanel coat.
Please note that too-quick typing resulted in a typo describing this garment as “fluffly” and we feel it’s should be put out there as an appropriate descriptor. This is stiff and heavy, but it’s also really eye-catching and unusual. The jewelry is gorgeous and well-chosen. It also coordinates well with the buttons, elevating the level of formality and elegance. But the fit is a little snug, which tends to become more apparent when you have a line of big sparkling buttons running the length of your torso. We like how it’s styled and it takes a great picture, but the design seems a bit tough to pull off.
