Cate Blanchett in Rochas at BFI London Film Festival’s RUMOURS Premiere: IN or OUT?

We are, as of the time this gets posted, smack in the middle of recording this week’s podcast, a considerable portion of which will be turned over to Cate Blanchett and her new series Disclaimer. Which is why we’re turning the opinionating on this one over to you. We’re also doing that because the very busy lady was on the BFI London red carpet for the premiere of her film Rumours and she wore something a bit wildly different from her expected styles. You’re bound to have something to say about this one.

We feel that we sufficiently prepared you for the scrolldown and yet you were probably still surprised by what you saw. Even now, we have to resist the urge to blurt out “What?” every time we look at this. We’ll give her this: it really is unexpected. The jacket and skirt are pretty gorgeous. The long sleeves on the blouse? Well, they certainly lend the look a sense of the modern. We’re just not convinced on the color of the blouse and the matchy shoes. They tend to lend the whole look an air of uniform; like a nurse or flight attendant in a ’60s science fiction movie. Is that a bad thing? Because it kind of sounds like a good thing when we put it that way. You make the call.
