The stars came out for the InStyle magazine Imagemaker Awards, because it’s that time of year when some of the most praised and elevated people in the world line up to give each other trophies. Not that we’re complaining, mind you. We remind you what the great philosopher Moira Rose once replied when asked what her favorite season of the year was: “Awards.” LFG!
Ali Wong
It’s giving Agatha Harkness – and that’s no insult. The pleating is gorgeous but the colors are a bit dreary.
Camila Cabello in Elie Saab Couture
It’s pretty, but it feels both off-season and dated.
Chrissy Teigen in Tom Ford
This sort of sleek sexiness is so much better for her than the overly fussy styles she tends to go for. It’s the jewelry that really makes this look.
Colman Domingo
We’re going to have to be honest here and say that we haven’t really loved his style efforts of late. The coat is gorgeous. We feel like he’s one of the men most responsible for bringing wide-legged pants back in style, but we hate how sloppy this pair looks.
Jessica Betts and Niecy Nash-Betts (in Chiara Boni La Petite Robe)
It’s a stunning dress, but this is the second time this month she’s stepped out in something too tight in the bust and that just isn’t like her. Jessica looks great.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel
If anybody else tried to make a conservative Chanel pantsuit look edgy by wearing it this way, they’d look kinda dumb. Obviously, some are going to conclude that she also looks kind of dumb here, but we remain impressed by her seemingly effortless ability to make Chanel pieces look like so much more than they are.
Lana Del Rey in Valentino
We don’t love the lack of color and it’s hard to see how that pseudo-frontier woman dress goes with a fur coat (presumably fake, although we wouldn’t put anything past her), but we have to admit, it all suits her pretty well. We just hate that sheer panel.
Laverne Cox in Archival Alexander McQueen
Mother is serving. Love the hair.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez
That’s a lovely and unexpected suit color combination and it looks great on him. Still needs a belt, though.
