Style File: Blake Lively Promotes IT ENDS WITH US in Vintage Dior, Dauphinette and Stella McCartney in New York

It Ends With Us star Blake Lively can’t stop, won’t stop serving up way too much fashion on the film’s publicity tour. Having covered her for many years now, we know two things about her public style: it’s as deliberate and as curated as any Law Roach/Zendaya collaboration. But because she doesn’t actually use a stylist, the results are entirely publicity-based. In other words, she has always known she looks hot in just about anything so she takes a typical hot person’s approach to fashion. To her, looking chic simply doesn’t matter. It’s all about press.

Having said that, we wouldn’t suggest she doesn’t care about looking good. After all, she’s not doing these tours in ripped jeans and band tees. She likes fashion, but she’s more of the “It’s a hoot!” school. She gets the press she wants, but the image is not, shall we say, one of consistent sophistication. This is a pretty nice suit, but the jacket is too small on her and the polka dot Mary Janes are hilariously wrong with it.

This is horrible, of course. We might be talked into supporting the jacket on its own, but to be honest, if we’re talking about breaking these items up and pairing them with something to tone them down, we think the leather shorts, bad as they look here, probably have more possibilities.

Oh, we forgot to mention that her character in this film is a florist, hence the parade of some of the ugliest florals you’ve ever seen. We still aren’t loving the floral moto and we don’t think the skirt is working either, but pairing them with that top is the mark of an insane person who’s just dressing for attention at this point.

We feel our point has been sufficiently made. We will say, however, that this look is fairly cohesive and mostly works, so long as you accept the idea of leather chaps in New York in August.
