The actresses behind the voices of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, Beauty and the Beast’s Belle, The Princess and the Frog’s Tiana, Aladdin’s Jasmine and Mulan delivered a fabulous moment of eleganza as they came out on stage at D23 to pay tribute to animator Mark Henn, who worked on each of their films.

We’ll be honest and admit that we only like Anika Noni Rose’s and Ming-na Wen’s gowns. But since this is a staged event and they’re clearly dressed in slight thematic homages to their characters (to greater or lesser extent), we can forgive a lot. The dresses skew more toward pageant style or even bridesmaid style than they do red carpet style. But from the left: It’s pretty and floaty and the color looks nice on Jodie; Paige’s has a nice shape and we like that it’s separates, but the color isn’t great for her. Anika Noni Rose stands out like a lightning bolt. The color looks great on her, although that’s a lot of satin. Linda’s gown is not great. She could have used a much richer, bolder blue. Ming-na Wen looks agelessly elegant and we like the various shades of red working together to give the dress some depth.
