This short waistcoat is made in khaki wool on which sequin embroidery and gold metallic threads have been applied. It is decorated with a row of bijoux buttons in enamel and hammered golden brass on the front, and a martingale with hammered golden brass buckle in the back to mark the waist and refine the silhouette.
The sophisticated embroidery of this waistcoat refers to the jacket adorned with beveled mirrors from Schiaparelli’s 1938/39 “”Zodiac”” autumn-winter collection, itself inspired by the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Exploring the theme of illusion so dear to the Maison, Daniel Roseberry revisits the embroidery with small antique mirrors that evoke the mirror doors of the Hall of Mirrors and their infinite reflection on this tailored jacket.
