We just gave a whole bunch of rambling answers to a journalist who wanted to know why Glen Powell is the Man of the Moment. Most of them will probably be ignored because no one has the time or space to feature our scattered thoughts, but we hope the most important observation makes it in: Glen Powell is the epitome of the “easy hang” and that makes him exactly the kind of movie star the public wants most right now; an antidote to stress in an extremely stressful time. To paraphrase ourselves, everyone wants to be him or do him.

We’d say he’s being pretty smart about his style choices at the moment. It’s all pure Boyfriend Material stuff; casually stylish, borderline generic, non-threatening and market-tested. For the most part, he’s avoiding trendy stuff or edgy stuff and he doesn’t seem too invested in thirst trap style. This is all cute and the chest hair looks great. There’s a slight trend away from jeans as the go-to casual guywear bottom and we’re seeing way more khakis with kicks and t-shirts lately. It’s a fine look, but these pants look way too dressy for it.

It’s all very clean and fine without being ostentatious or edgy. He tends to avoid lapsing into good ol’ boy style (even if it does suit him perfectly), opting instead for this sort of upscale middle America look. He’s threading a needle in order to appeal to the widest possible demographic and right now, he’s crushing it. Love the suit, but those socks are a bit much.
