The stars of The Trap, director M. Night Shyamalan’s latest twist thriller (with the twist built right into the trailer because it’s a pretty good one), took extremely different approaches to their style choices for the film’s New York premiere.
Saleka Shyamalan took the “I’m playing the pop singer” approach. Ariel Donoghue took the “I’m playing the daughter” approach, and Josh Hartnett took the “I’m playing the shittiest dad in the world” approach. Theme dressing!
SALEKA SHYAMALAN
She’s taking her moment and running with it, we’ll give her that. Nepo baby charges be damned. Attagirl. The beading is pretty and we sort of appreciate that she opted to wear this dress with a lining, although we can’t say we’re loving the color of said lining. Overall, it’s not terrible, but it’s also not particularly fresh or youthful. The heavy makeup isn’t helping.
JOSH HARTNETT
This is lazy.
ARIEL DONOGHUE
“Is it supposed to be that wrinkled?” really isn’t the question you want people asking about your red carpet movie premiere dress. Best to leave that sort of design for events with better lighting conditions, like outdoor weddings at high noon in a blizzard. What we’re trying to say here is that we hate that color. It rarely flatters and it always looks bathroomy to us.
