It was a very colorful, satiny sort of vibe on the red carpet at the premiere of Descendants: Rise of the Red. This is a kinder way of saying that the looks skewed a weensy bit tacky for this one.
Brandy Norwood
That is way too much stain chartreuse for one woman to handle. Still, she’s almost making it work. We don’t love the smock-like neckline and we think the sleeve/cape situation could use some serious editing, but it’s a striking look. The hair… does not look youthful.
China Anne McClain
The color looks great on her and we like the idea of the chain strap, although it looks a little chintzy and the way it attaches to the dress pretty much ruins it.
Dara Reneé
It’s a costume and we hate it. We get that you want to promote your project, but young actors should know that the red carpet is also about promoting yourself. Show everyone that you’re an actress who can play a range of parts instead of giving the impression that this is all you have to offer.
Kylie Cantrall
Meh. The theme-dressing is gimmicky and the style feels very dated.
Malia Baker
That poor fabric is overworked to the point of exhaustion.
Rita Ora
We’ve got to give credit where it’s due: this looks fantastic on her.
Ruby Rose Turner
No. This is way too twee even with a Disney logo behind it. You can do cutesy fantasy fashion without sacrificing taste and style.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Former Villain Kid Uma, now Auradon Prep’s newest principal, extends an invite to the school to another VK – Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. After the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red and Cinderella’s daughter Chloe travel back in time to try to undo the traumatic event that set Red’s mother down her villainous path.
