These shots of Sarah Jessica Parker in costume and on location shooting the next season of And Just Like That dropped on Friday afternoon, so we’re a little bit late getting to them, but there was no way we were going to let an ugly Carrie Bradshaw outfit pass by without remark.

Sorry, but the Carrie Bradshaw we knew was not a pastels-and-pussy-bows kind of gal. We feel like the style brief for the character is to make her into one of those aging, eccentric boho types that make up classic New York, but the thing about Carrie is, despite her adventurous fashion sense, she was always extremely mainstream in her views and goals. She wanted to write for Vogue and land a rich man, after all. We’ve long since accepted that this show has its own version of Carrie and that it only tangentially relates to the one we knew 25 years ago, but it’s still hard to see our girl walking the streets in such ugly clothes.
