Demi Moore isn’t the only actress having herself a fun little resurgence at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Uma Thurman’s Oh Canada opened to mixed reviews, but you wouldn’t know it by how hard the lady’s been working the looks.

This is lovely and perfect — from far away. Part of the reason we’ve been noting the shift toward more formal looks for the Cannes photo calls this year is because we love the opportunity to assess some perfectly Riviera-appropriate day looks. The style is giving Audrey and Grace, which is ever so apropos, but those frayed edges are giving us eyelid twitches.

We’ve been over the trend for big, puffy opera coats for some time now, but a big opera trench coat is a fun and chic twist. We love the simplicity of this look, although we think it would have benefitted from a little more contrast between the two pieces.

This is a lady who’s having a ball with her fashion this week. We won’t pretend to love the design, which could definitely have used several bouts of hard edits, but the drama of it is appealing and she’s clearly loving it.
