Three celebrity ladies on the Cannes jury hit the beach for a daytime photocall and all of them overdid it on the style front, to our surprise.
Greta Gerwig in Maison Margiela Couture
There’s just way too much going on here. The effect should be breezy and daytime, but instead it comes off overwrought and complicated. The seaming and pleating on the dress gives it an unattractive shape and a wildly overdesigned feel. The hoof shoes look terrible with it.
Eva Green in Vivienne Westwood
This is a hell of a lot of look for a daytime photo call at Cannes, but she’s French, so it doesn’t come off pretentious. It is similarly overwrought as Gerta’s look, however. That skirt design isn’t our favorite style, but it should be paired with a top that isn’t fighting with it so much. And while the jewelry is fun, it really doesn’t go with the rest of it.
Lily Gladstone in Gucci
This is cute in theory, although we don’t think the semi-shirtwaist style does much for her, and all-white doesn’t seem to be in her wheelhouse either. The shoes are fun, but the dress is so neutral that they draw your eyes straight down. The earrings, as always, are gorgeous.
