Beef star Ali Wong was living the introvert’s dream last night, picking up a trophy and working the ultimate in “I won’t be hugging anyone tonight” ensembles.

It’s a hell of a look, but it may be one of our least favorite Van Herpens. Once you remove the most interesting element, it becomes a much less attractive garment. The nude illusion textile is wrinkly and loose-fitting, the patterns are overly busy. It’s  a spectacularly high-impact garment for making an entrance or executing a capital-M Moment, but the impracticality of it, combined with how much less attractive it looks when you remove that impracticality, leaves us a little underwhelmed.
