Lady Gaga did her one-time onscreen man a solid, lending her star power to the already star-studded Maestro LA premiere by joining him and his fellow castmembers on the red carpet. He also brought his six-year-old to the proceedings, which just goes to show he’s pulling out every single stop he can for this campaign.
She avoided posing on the red carpet alone, which is pretty savvy and cool of her, knowing how much of an attention-suck she can be in that setting. It’s funny, because she dressed down slightly while Bradley and Carey seemed to step up their game, knowing they’d be standing next to her.
Lady Gaga in Alexander McQueen
Her suit is cute, but between it and her bob, this is the most low-key and conventional she’s looked in ages.
We like to think our constant whining about how boring their style choices tend to be has had an effect on them, but we know it’s just the Gaga Factor. They’re likely to keep this stepped-up effort through awards season. That’s the hope, anyway.
Bradley Cooper in Louis Vuitton
Sharp, but sedate. He may be the star of the film, but he’s also trying to ride that Serious Director cred.
Carey Mulligan in Celine
It’s a gorgeous gown. The head styling’s a little too plain for it and she could use some showier jewelry, but we’re thinking baby steps.
Sarah Silverman
Simple, but effective. The color looks great on her but we wish she’d worn her hair up.
Maya Hawke in Prada
It’s a frock with a lot of personality, which makes it perfect for her. We think we’d appreciate the whimsy of it a little more if it weren’t rendered in that sad brown. On the other hand, this would’ve been great for a Wonka cast member.
Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey
Aw, they’re so cute together. We love how Matt’s just bringing him along on everything lately. We just watched the screener for series finale of Fellow Travelers (and will have a series wrapup recap at the end of the week) so we’re feeling all gooey and sentimental just looking at them. Matt looks sharp and he’s clearly in his Sugar Daddy phase, although we think it ages him slightly. Jonathan continues to take little fashion risks here and there. We kind of like the jacket and shirt together, but we don’t think the white pants were the right choice.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
MAESTRO is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, MAESTRO at its core is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.
