At the moment of this post hitting the front page of our site, we’ll be in the middle of recording our podcast for the week, which will largely be devoted to the season finale of And Just Like That…, but before we go deep into all the ways season 2 of the show improved, stagnated, and/or regressed, let’s just be shallow for a moment and take in all of the eye-popping looks at Carrie’s hilariously self-indulgent dinner party in honor of her apartment. Before we get to the screencaps and commentary, the details as we know them:

– Sarah Jessica Parker in Oscar de la Renta (vintage sleeves also by Oscar de la Renta)
– Kristin Davis in Markarian
– Cynthia Nixon in Roksanda
– Karen Pittman in Ralph Lauren (dress) and Lisa Folawiyo (coat)
– Sara Ramírez in Gucci
– Sarita Choudhury in Balmain
– Nicole Ari Parker in Christopher John Rogers

We don’t have the details on Katerina Tannenbaum’s outfit, but it’s pretty cute. Given the situation of a dozen fiftysomethings in form-fitting, unwieldy couture slinging back cocktails in a studio apartment with one bathroom and no waiting, we can safely say that this show has moved entirely into the realm of fantasy. There’s something vaguely absurd about so many people getting so dressed up to sit in such a small space (especially since half of them don’t know each other or have never set foot in that apartment, but we digress) and we think costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago just leaned into that absurdity. There’s no denying that SJP’s OdlR look is a stunner – Carrie is practically the queen of the impractical skirt –  but we think we might have to call Nicole Ari Parker’s Christopher John Rogers look the best of the bunch. The brilliant floral worked really well as an ironic counter to her character’s sadness and guilt. Love Sarita Choudhury’s Balmain too, but we think Cynthia Nixon’s whole look ranks as one of Miranda’s best. We just thought she should’ve taken off the earrings before the BBC interview. While we don’t have the details on their looks, each of the men is uniquely costumed in ways large and small, which is not always easy to do when the dress code calls for suits. Harry is colorful and just on this side of flashy, Herbert is in a politician’s red, white and blue, Ravi is sporting an ascot, Anthony a brooch, and Giuseppe a band collar. Jackie’s off on another planet somewhere.

As for Samantha Jones, we’ll have our thoughts on her whole deal (including Pat Field’s costume choices for her one-minute cameo) in the podcast.
