The stars of the much-discussed (and critically derided) upcoming series The Idol served up moody celebrity styles for the Cannes photo call. Color was evidently forbidden.
Hari Nef
This is puzzlingly business-like, which makes her look like a studio executive who wandered in front of the cameras. We think Cannes is a great place to work a breezy summer suit, but this is the exact opposite of that; a heavy, dreary suit.
Jennie Kim in Shushu Tong
It’s pretty and twee, but the style couldn’t be better suited to her. She looks really cute, but we can’t help thinking this is an evening dress ad calls for more evening styling. We wish she’d saved it for a different premiere.
Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel
If nothing else, this promo tour is proving that she has a knack for working fairly minimalist Chanel designs. Like so many of the looks here, this comes off a bit heavy and dark for daytime.
The Weeknd
It’s fine. It’s not interesting, but it’s fine. We guess it was cold that day or something?
Troye Sivan in Valentino
Ah, there he is. There’s our summer boy. His co-stars may have opted for heavier fair, but the sun never stops shining on Troye Sivan. We love the blouse and the shorts. We remain unconvinced on the boots.
