He may not be Captain America anymore, but Chris Evans clearly has one superpower left. As the star of Ghosted stopped by the Good Morning America studios to chat up his new film, he used this one remaining power: making a knit polo look effortlessly flattering.

We would never try to tell anyone in the so-called real world how to dress, but the gentlemen who care about such things already know the truth of the matter. The knit polo is probably the single most evil garment in traditional menswear. Long has its siren call fooled the passing dandy who succumbed to its charms, only to find out it gave him moobs (or worse, constant headlights), made his belly button visible for all the world, or shined a spotlight on his love handles. You’ve got to be pretty fit to pull it off and even then, there’s no guarantee it’ll flatter you. But look, we can understand why you’d want to give it a shot. They’re retro-stylish and the patterns are usually pretty fun. Lorenzo just bought one for himself and looks great in it. Tom will never allow another one to touch his delicate skin. It’s interesting to note what Chris and/or his style team did once they got him inside, however. We noted in the above shots that even he wasn’t particularly flattered by that contrasting ribbed waistband (truly a Satanic design element). His people must have noticed it as well, because they broke out a belt and a tuck for the final look:

We’re not entirely convinced it works, if only because the pants seem to sit pretty low on him, but we can’t claim he’s not pulling it off.
