Princess Cathy, the new Colonel of the Irish Guards, paid them a visit at Mons Barracks in Aldershot to view their St. Patrick’s Day parade and take the salute from them while she handed out shamrocks. Yes, your instincts are right. That whole first sentence was a little shady.

We are THRILLED that she’s not wearing green. Not that it’s any sort of crime to do so on Saint Patrick’s Day, but like a lot of her nods to the locals through her clothing choices, her insistence on wearing green any time she came in contact with Irish culture came off gimmicky and shallow at times. The teal looks fantastic on her and it really makes the shamrock corsage pop for pictures. We’re not crazy about the hat, but she tends to wear the kind of hats you only see on posh British women or their wannabes, so it’s appropriate for her and her station.
