Michelle, we love you, which is why we are compelled to ask you just what the hell is going on here?

Putting aside the question of whether an all-denim look is appropriate for the Oscars luncheon or even the rather more pressing question of whether she can pull this look off, we are flabbergasted by the shoe choice here. Just the goofiest possible way of finishing off an ensemble that practically begs for a light touch in the accessorizing. We don’t claim to believe there’s any one correct way to approach the styling of a look like this (although we tend to think the punk-lite styling of the look book makes a bit more sense), but we feel very safe in declaring that black patent Mary Jane kitten heels may be one of the worst ways to go. We don’t think this look suits her at all, although we think she could pull off either of the pieces on their own. But the look as a whole is just not working here.
