And now, here’s The Fabelmans star Michelle Williams, doing sort of alright for herself. Was that a little backhanded of us? Maybe, although we do genuinely like both of these looks, which feel like a slight course correction on her part, after an awards season filled with some questionable style choices. Do we feel like she’s back to fighting form, so to speak? Not exactly.

It doesn’t have the structure she needs in the bodice, but that one fit issue aside, this is pretty great for her. Love the color. We realize gowns with pockets are an exciting development for gown-wearers of all stripes, but it would be super-great if they didn’t hook their thumbs in them when posing for pictures. The necklace is stunning but the hair remains underwhelming. We’re pretending not to see the little bows.

Unfortunately, we can’t pretend not to see this bow, which was SUPER not needed, since the neckline is interesting enough. Besides, the gown has a somewhat serious vibe to it, so the giant wreath bow looks even more incongruous. That’s a really great color for her, though. The rest of the design works beautifully. We might even have liked the bow if it had been about half its current size. The hair remains puzzlingly underwhelming and we’re trying to understand why you’d pair pearls with a dress and neckline like this one.
