We’re going to do something we almost never do in our red carpet coverage. We’re going to pit the same dress worn two different times against each other to see who wore it best. Darlings, consider the following style effort from Cate Blanchett at the BAFTAs:
Who wore this dress best? Was it Cate Blanchett at the 2023 BAFTAs, or was it …
Cate Blanchett at the 2015 Oscars? Yes, your girl did another re-wear, but this time she made some notable styling changes.
And we have to say, we’re loving the new take. When we wrote about this gown eight (!!) years ago, we were all hung up on the raw edges around the armholes, but they bother us quite a bit less than they used to. The way she has the shoulders built out now does a lot to make the effect work better. The necklace is stunning and it absolutely makes the look. We’re never this nitpicky, but her #WithRefugees ribbon looks silly where it’s placed. We would have had her wear it at the hip so as not to fight with that necklace.
