One thing that’s a sure bet regarding Viola Davis’s awards campaigning style: she’s gonna serve you some bold colors and shapes. We hope she doesn’t tamp down on this preference as she gets closer to Oscar night because it’s one of the things about her promo style that sets her apart from a lot of her contemporaries. Case in point:
Does it look a little like a formal gown for Spider-Man? Maybe. A little. Are those shoulder details working? Maybe not. Do the little cap sleeves help the design? Not really. Yes, we have quibbles, but the overall effect looks great on her. The natural hair and those killer earrings do a lot to tie the whole look together. Plus it’s got pockets, so this strikes us as a style win all around for Miss Viola. She’s comfy, confident, and boldly unique. Mission accomplished.
