We just thought we’d post these shots of Jessica Chastain and Leanin’ Eddie Redmayne at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences new member reception, mostly because they looked cute together and they each wore some fairly discussable looks.
It then came as a complete shock to us that they’re in a movie together. We have no memory of this fact at all. We even covered the premiere at TIFF last month. There’s just entirely too much culture happening, kittens.

This is extremely “professional reception” appropriate. It’s not showy, but it’s sharp. It may surprise you to hear that we think the shoe color is a good choice. Everyone’s defaulting to black pumps so much lately that we’ve gone around the bend and now we’re speaking approvingly of the Silly Putty pump. Such is fashion, kittens. It’s all cyclical.
Eddie Redmayne
This is a bit of a swerve coming from Eddie, who basically made his name on classic twee British male style (lots of tweeds and sweaters). We don’t know who the designer is (and we bet we’ll get an email from their publicist before the week is out), but we really like the shirt. We’re not feeling the pants, though. The shades of camel don’t quite match. We think black dress pants are kind of the default choice for most men in semi-dressy situations, which is why we tend not to love them, but we think they might have been a better choice here.
