Kittens, let’s rate all the looks that failed to rate a spotlight post this week, shall we? Celebrities, we appreciate your efforts, but some of you fell short and we’re gonna tell you why. No need to thank us. We see it as community service, really.
Charlie Hunnam
It’s not interesting and he couldn’t look any less comfortable in it, but we suppose the effort is to be commended. He’d be so much better off finding stylish alternatives that make him happy instead of uncomfortable.
Chloë Sevigny in Jacquemus
It has a vaguely bridal feel to it, but the dress is just odd enough to mitigate the effect. It suits her well. We wish she’d worn metallic sandals instead.
Diane Kruger in Chanel
Probably one of the biggest scrolldown disappointments we’ve seen in some time. The entire bottom half of this picture is tragic.
Dove Cameron in Valentino
The whole outfit is very Nana Chic, but the eye makeup is a fun way to give it some energy.
Emma Thompson in Dries Van Noten
She’s happy, she’s comfy, it photographs well and it’s a high-fashion label. Can’t really find fault with any of it.
Greta Gerwig
It’s possible that the backdrop is affecting our judgment, but we don’t think this color looks all that great on her and the style is incredibly mature and mumsy.
Halsey in Chanel
The top half is working for us. The bottom half is working for no one.
Jamie Foxx
It’s a documentary premiere, so we wouldn’t expect anyone to show up in a tux. We’re really only including this because he looks cute and hot, despite the hat.
Lashana Lynch in Preen by Thornton Bregazzi
We sincerely do not understand why this hellaciously unflattering dress exists.
Léa Seydoux in Louis Vuitton
We might have accepted all of this (even if the idea of sheer black hose with shorts on anyone other than a chorus girl sounds like a terrible idea), but that mock turtleneck is what killed it for us.
Mindy Kaling in Oscar de la Renta
It’s cute, but there’s such a thing as overdoing ombre and we think she’s right on the line. We’d have liked a top in a different color story.
Penélope Cruz
Seeing a lot of ladies in men’s style suits with ties on various red carpets lately. You really can’t go wrong with it, but we kinda wish this had a little more color or pattern to it.
Penélope Cruz in Chanel
It’s as classic as a Chanel suit gets, but we think the flimsy top and sandals don’t really pull the look together like they should.
