The Emmys are tonight which means this weekend was packed with pre-Emmys parties and luncheons. Let’s judge the people who showed up for the Television Academy’s Nominees Celebration, shall we? Just for funsies!
Christina Ricci in Burberry
Seems a little heavy, but it’s a pretty cute look. We think we might have recommended dialing it back a little on the accessorizing. The footwear and the bag are both too focus-pulling. The lip color feels wildly off.
That’s such a weird spot for cutouts. We can’t see anything else, but that’s partially due to how generic the rest of it is.
Laverne Cox in Mônot
Ma’am. That’s just a weensy bit too much, we’re afraidn.
Melanie Lynskey in Rodarte
This looks fantastic on her and we say that as two queens who are pretty picky about black-backed florals. We like the sparkly accessories, but we think the shoes would work better in the same design, but black.
This is cute, but we feel like the sandals aren’t substantial enough to go with the jacket. We wonder if a low-heeled pump, flat or loafer wouldn’t have been a better choice.
Quinta Brunson in Azzi & Osta
This is really great. No notes. We think purple might be her color.
Nice of you to stop by on your way to the airport, Sebastian.
Sheryl Lee Ralph
We don’t think the sheer/leather pairing works entirely well in the execution, but from a visual standpoint, it’s a great look for pictures. The braid and the hoops really make it. We like the shoes, but the vamp is too high.
We’re not offended by a nice pair of dark wash jeans on this red carpet, but we do think a pair of black dress pants would’ve been just as easy to wear and tied the look together a little better. Even so, this is a step up in his style and we’re recognizing.
Tyler James Williams in Thrash
We can’t think of many guys who could pull this off without looking like Mickey Mouse or Bob’s Big Boy, but somehow, this is working for him.
