Cannes Film Festival 2022: Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton at the IRMA VEP Photocall: IN or OUT?

Such are the style bounties yielded by the Cannes Film Festival that we’re going to do something we rarely do: submit a non-red carpet look for an IN or OUT vote.  To be fair, Cannes photo calls tend to be a bit more dramatic than your average “stand next to a logo awkwardly” celebrity photo call. It’s not that high fashion looks are absolutely required, but no one who opts to come in their finest ever looks like they’re overdoing it. Besides, this one was too interesting to leave you out of the final assessing:

And by “interesting,” we mean “a little weird/fucked up.” Or eccentric at the very least. We’ll give it this: It’s styled MUCH better than the runway look and that’s to be commended. The black pants and pumps pull it together and give it a more cohesive feel. That … what is that, anyway? A peplum? A half-skirt? A table runner? Whatever it is, it’s definitely odd and outside the norm for most celebrity promo fashion. We think we’d be more than okay with it if it didn’t have that fringe and the whole top didn’t have that latch hook rug effect. But as we said, this one’s up to y’all, so go to town on it, kittens.
