You probably wouldn’t know it from looking at the above picture, but it presents something of a bitchy red carpet blogger conundrum for us. How to approach a red carpet where the women are in dresses and heels and the man is in jeans and a t-shirt, but it’s the latter who comes off way more stylish?

We suspect Jeff’s look is no less expensive than either of those dresses. It’s well-coordinated, photogenic, totally on-brand for him and doesn’t strike us as particularly inappropriate for a dinosaur movie premiere. If Bryce and DeWanda didn’t coordinate, it’s a hell of a coincidence that they’d show up in such similar styles. We think the silhouette and style really suit Bryce, but the neckline is out of proportion and we don’t like the color, the textile, or the the gathering at the waist with the sash detail. In other words, we just don’t like most of it. Similarly, we like the style and shape of DeWanda’s dress, but we don’t like the way it hangs around the hips and we think the hem should go to the floor. Her hair looks amazing, though. Like we said, we don’t think Jeff is off-base dressing the way he has here and we’d like to think we’ve been supportive when lady stars wear similarly casual-stylish looks in the right settings. Red carpet style, for us, is about impact, branding, and appropriateness for the setting. This is just one of those rare occasions when a casual male wound up owning the red carpet in the way his formally dressed female co-stars didn’t manage, based on those criteria. In Bryce and DeWanda’s defense, they went up against a legendarily stylish celebrity male with a five-decade career behind him.
