Two very British stars, looking very British, talking about A Very British Scandal.
Having covered each of them in various ways over the last decade-plus, we’ve recently come to a conclusion about A Very British Scandal stars Paul Bettany and Claire Foy. He’s at his style best doing the Posh Upper Class Twit thing and she’s at her style best doing the British Fashion Eccentric thing.
The posing situation isn’t helping his tightly tailored jacket, but he looks great; simple, classic, with a whiff of knowing pretension to it. That’s his style sweet spot. She really is more fun when she loosens up her style. And by “loosens up her style” we obviously mean “wears dragon pajamas with feather cuffs in public). It’s not so much that we love her look as she does. She just seems happier having fun and keeping the fuss factor low. We keep hoping the pandemic-fueled fashion pajama trend would end, but we doubt it will entirely; not any time soon.
