This may be of interest only to us, but we like noting this sort of thing. Rachel Zegler’s West Side Story co-star Ariana DeBose has let her style evolve during the promotion of the film, starting with somewhat flamboyant looks and eventually streamlining herself to a more “prestige actress” sort of style. Rachel, on the other hand, started off the promotion of the film (and her entry into the world of red carpetry) by choosing very safe, colorless “ingenue” styles that eventually morphed into a much bolder, slightly more adventurous style.
In Vivienne Westwood at the BAFTA Awards
She’s not exactly living on the edge here, mind you. These looks both fall neatly under the “ingenue style” heading, but they’re louder, more declarative, and sexier than her introductory styles. She’s moving on and looking for the next project. This is very pretty and totally classic; the epitome of the romantic heroine gown. The pendant is gorgeous.
In Christian Dior at the Critics Choice Awards (London Outpost)
She seems to like a little fuss in her style, which is why Dior tends to work for her. Even so, as much as we love the shape and the color here, that bodice is overdesigned and weirdly proportioned. The skirt does almost enough work to distract from it by being fabulous, but for us, this design just doesn’t work. We appreciate the choice, though.
