The stars came out to the amfAR gala for a good cause and to salute designer Jeremy Scott. Let’s assess, shall we?
Bebe Rexha in Moschino
Assuming that’s not real fur (which is a more than safe bet), there’s no argument to be made here. This is fun, glamorous, and theatrical. Exactly what you want from an amfAR gala red carpet. This is easily the best she’s ever looked on a red carpet. Jayne Mansfield drag suits her well.
Camila Mendes in Rodarte
Gorgeous color, classic design. We can understand the relatively restrained jewelry with that dress, but we’d have rec’d more interesting hair than that.
Diplo in Moschino
LOVE this. Two things stand out (aside from the colors, of course): The fit is spectacular and it’s insane that a white man looks that good in so many vivid yellows.
Emily Hampshire in Dries Van Noten
Her makeup is very pretty. There’s a certain Boho/Goth chicness about the dress but that skirt just looks like a big pile of mess in pictures.
Garcelle Beauvais in Alex Perry
Gorgeous color and silhouette. We wish the bust didn’t have that insert, which does nothing for the design.
Gigi Goode in Moschino
This is very witty and cute, but we’re going to be honest here: it was a huge disappointment. She’s worn some amazingly glamorous and chic looks before. This just feels like a letdown.
Jenna Dewan in Zuhair Murad
Looks pretty dated, to be honest. We don’t expect a lot of forward-looking fashion from Zuhair Murad, but there’s a real staleness to this design.
Jeremy Scott and Anitta in Moschino
No matter how ludicrous Jeremy Scott’s designs may get, you can’t ever accuse him of not walking the walk. If he expects his models and clientele to wear ridiculous fashion, it’s only because it’s clearly his favorite kind of fashion. Look at his face! He’s in his glory. This is adorable and hilarious. We don’t see how you can look at these outfits and not think they’re ready for a party.
Lana Condor in Moschino
It’s hard to get made at a disco ball dress, but the bust is too tight and those wings look unwieldy.
Lori Harvey in Roberto Cavalli
This could look so tacky with the wrong styling or on the wrong person, but she looks simply gorgeous in it.
Maria Bakalova in Moschino
The skirt is pretty but the bodice is wildly overdesigned.
Paris Jackson in Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood
This might look beautiful in person, but it’s clear that this textile photographs terribly. We don’t mind the design. It’s overdesigned all to hell, but you don’t pick a Westwood if you’re looking for minimalism. The colors aren’t very pretty in this light, though.
Violet Chachki in Moschino
Now THAT is the kind of DRAMA BUTTER we’re looking for from a drag queen in a Moschino getup. This is fierce as shit.
