Practically everything Gaga does is drag of one form or another and clearly a boa made of fake money is just about the epitome of “tongue in cheek.” She’s constantly trying on and discarding personae and it’s hard to argue that there isn’t something a bit funny about leaning into this sort of thing rather than being coy about it. On the other hand, if your Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous drag comes with an actual Hermès bag and you’re modeling it on an actual private jet, is it really drag or are you just rich? In other words, depending on how the light hits it, you could argue that this is the height of self-awareness or shows a complete lack of it.
