Cannes 2021: Salma Hayek in Gucci at the Kering Women in Motion Awards

Because we tend to be a little hard on Mrs. Owns-Half-of-Fashion, we feel duty-bound to give Salma Hayek a shoutout when she picks a red carpet look that really sings on her. We debated putting this one up to an “IN or OUT” vote (and you are, as always, encouraged to give your opinion here), but we think it’s an inarguable win for her.

In the parlance of drag, she has stepped her P up considerably with this one. Not that we expect her to go around in looks this extravagant, requiring a military engagement-level of preparation all the time, but when the moment arises, it’s nice to see she can still turn on the glam lamps at full blast. Having said that, we’re not particularly in love with the color story going on here. Some of those blues are pretty harsh and poorly placed. She’s got a big-time Marvel movie coming out later this year (Eternals), so we’re hoping to see this level of red carpet fabulosity from her. Girlfriend can afford it.
