We don’t know how else to put this except to say that we really respect the style choices made here and we think they’re very smart and chic in their own way, except we don’t think they ultimately work.
Gigantic heels aside (and those shoes are pretty damn fabulous), this feels like an attempt to blend that predicted post-lockdown comfort-based style with something that will look interesting and stylish on television. She’s really interested in the high-waisted pant lately and while we can’t say we agree with her on this pair, we do like how dramatically wide and flowy they are; almost like a skirt without the hassle of a skirt. The duster-length vest could be interesting, but it’s so overwhelmed by that overdesigned blouse that it’s a bit hard to tell. We tend to think a much simpler top would’ve been a better choice here and might have tied the whole look together. As it is, it’s just fighting with the other pieces. You don’t need gathered, flipped cuffs and a cold shoulder with everything else that’s going on here. It almost works, but there are too many competing elements when you put it all together.
