The truest sign yet that nature is healing: red carpets for … how can we put this in a non-bitchy way? It’s like this: Awards season gave us the kind of red carpet action we’ve been craving for a year, but the carpeted road leading up to Oscars night is sort of like an Olympics of A-listers. By the time you get to the main event, it’s only the ones who are riding a career high on a wave of increased attention. It’s the ne plus ultra of red carpetry and we love every second of covering it. But any site like ours will tell you that red carpet commentary is 90% stuff like this: a benefit or premiere where a whole range of people show up. This is not a drag on Chrissy Teigen, who’s actually having a banner year in a lot of ways, but she hasn’t had much opportunity to show up on red carpets because the only ones happening were restricting themselves to award nominees.
Anyway, here’s your girl, taking time off from being a social media superstar and a highly successful lifetime brand to get some shiny frock action on.
She’s clearly thrilled to be on a red carpet again and that’s pretty endearing. The dress is very much in line with her preferences, but we don’t love the modesty panel and we always have a hard time with a micro-mini/long-ass train combination. But she’s loving playing dressup and getting out into the world and her unabashed joy is kind of infectious. We don’t love the design of the dress, but she’s selling the hell out of it. It looks like she said “Just give me ALL the jewelry” when it came time for accessorizing.
