Duchess Cathy has been doing her royal duties virtually so far this year, and to be honest, we haven’t found much reason to feature her from-the-waist-up looks of late. But this sharp, snappy, boldly colored tweed jacket jumped out at us when she sat down to chat with some teachers about how they’re getting by in These Unprecedented Times.
This is a rare sentiment for us to express, but we really hope she’s styled exactly like the look book shots below. It’s a really cute jacket that can be styled in all sorts of duchess-appropriate ways (and she’s worn it before with a matching skirt), but we honestly think the best accompaniment to this piece is a well-worn pair of jeans. Since she has a very un-Duchess-like ability to work the hell out of a good pair of jeans, we’d love to see her try it. It’ll be interesting to see if, post-ALL OF THIS, we get to see a slightly more relaxed royal style going forward. Not that she hasn’t had plenty of opportunities to be casual, but we wouldn’t be a bit surprised if there was a royal effort to look more down-to-earth and relatable in the next few years. It feels like things have been trending that way for a while and we suspect once the Queen is gone, a lot of the rules about royal comportment are going to shift dramatically.
Get your jeans on, Cathy.
