Jennifer Lopez on “World of Dance” in Balmain: IN or OUT?

Posted on August 13, 2020

Let’s put this one up for a vote, shall we? We’ve had so few chances to do so this year. Jenny Fromtheblock has been consistently showing up to work in some eye-popping lewks throughout this season of World of Dance (for which we are truly grateful) but she saved the most eye-popping of them all for the finale. To be fair, we don’t want to oversell this. If you’ve seen a dozen of her red carpet looks, the following is not going to seem all that outrageous by comparison, but it’s still pretty head-turning for network television:

Yes, they’re pants. To put the outfit in the context of its surroundings:

There’s a lot to like about it when she’s sitting down. It’s an explosion of sparkle, which is one of those style elements (like a ton of makeup or too much jewelry) that she can handle with no problem. We think the hair was a smart choice because the shape of this outfit probably calls for some restraint in the styling. And since there was no way J Lo was going to be restrained in her jewelry choices, a slicked-back do works well. The heavy duty parka zipper is a major NO, though. And we’re just not sure the pants work:

She’s got a bod to die for but not even she can make that stark horizontal line across her belly look good. And we don’t think the flare at the bottom was the way to go. If she’d asked us for our opinion ahead of time, we’d have told her to wear a tapered pant and some sort of black top or bodysuit. Still, we are grateful for the glamour and we could be talked into loving this as-is, which is where you come in. Support us or convince us otherwise, kittens:
