If there’s one thing we’ve learned about celebrities over the years, it’s that they all work very, very hard to make us look bad. We just got finished saying that this awards season has been a pretty dull one from a style perspective. And just yesterday we claimed Miss Charlize was getting away from wearing typical Hollywood glamour for her Oscar campaign. So of course here she comes, working not only the most glam look in ages but also one of her most interesting ones.
The Costume Designers Guild Awards are typically a place where ladystars feel free to get a little wilder in their style choices. Unlike almost all other awards ceremonies at this time of year, the CDGAs are all about the looks, which means attendees are a bit more subtly encouraged to go for it, no judgments. But we, of course, reserve the right to judge.
And our judgment is that we love it. We’re not convinced on the black armbands, but the rest of it is gorgeous, regal, glamorous and yes, just a little costumey, which makes it absolutely perfect for the evening. And she looks amazing.
