Look, we want to be clear about one thing before the torches and pitchforks appear: we’re all Team Tay now. Well, mostly. We guess. We’re just saying: there was a time when folks thought we had an issue with her but outside of her relentless blandness, we never really have. And we think she’s done some interesting things as an artist and public figure in recent years, showing a level of growth and self-awareness we wouldn’t have previously attributed to her. We also think her long tenure as a pop star leaves little doubt as to her talent. Having said all THAT…
Gurl whut.
She snagged a simple, sexy gown (see the runway shot) and had it turned into something awkwardly modest…? We can understand why she wouldn’t want to work a hip-high slit and a hip cutout, but putting a mini-skirt under a gown – and then slapping on a totally incongruous, focus-pulling pair of thigh-high boots – none of that makes any kind of sense to us. She just looks weird from the waist down – and it’s all you can really focus on. It took us a while to realize the top half of the dress is nice (if a bit plain) and the color’s interesting.
