We’re sticking to simple, pretty (possibly?) fashion right now because things are going to get loud and tacky round these parts pretty soon. We can’t tell if this super-goofy getup is actually working for Miss Gugu or if it’s just that she’s so pretty and she can make the unworkable look effortless.
Or maybe it just looks bad on her.
We don’t honestly think it does, although we’re having some problems with how overdesigned it is. She was smart enough to have the skirt lined, but we’re not sure the sheer parts of the bodice really work. Despite our dislike of over-ruffling, we think this amount is exactly the level she can work comfortably without looking overwhelmed by them all. We think the hair, makeup and shoes do a lot to cut through the sweetness of the outfit but we also think it’s hard not to come away with a distinct “Cruella De Vil” impression. We don’t know, you guys. We’re intrigued, though. We can’t stop looking at it. If nothing else, credit to her for wearing probably the most distinct red carpet look of the week.
