Miss Tay gets her Pretty Princess drag on – and for once, we’re not going to be total bitches about it.
We’re only going to be partial bitches about it.
In truth, there’s a lot for us to hate here, starting with the color story. Rare is the instance of us praising that trendy dusty pink. It’s just not our bag, color-wise. Pairing it with a bold yellow only makes the pink look dingier and the yellow look harsh. The style of the dress is fine, but a little too princessy for our tastes. Flower crowns are so “Instagram circa 2016” and the balloon bolero is a very silly garment.
And you know what? She looks pretty great, despite all our bitchiness. Oh, we’d still suggest she lose the bolero and we really can’t bring ourselves to like the colors, but this really suits her and looks great on her. If we had to offer a technical critique – and you know us, darlings; we have to – we think the waist sits too high and the applique would be more effective if it didn’t blend in with the yellow so much. But it’s a look that makes you stop and look. And it’s a look that seems tailor-made for her. We don’t love it, but we can’t hate it either.
