What a stunner of a look.
We’re so happy to see Iris Van Herpen becoming more and more of a common sight on celebrity red carpets. Her work is dramatic, highly photogenic, unforgettable and often quite flattering, since it’s all based on fluid and graceful lines accentuating the shape of the body. The beige, brown and umber color story looks stunning on them. We don’t mind the sheerness – in fact, we salute Indya’s nonchalance about it. As a transgender person, their body-baring takes on deeper meaning that could almost be seen as a political act; an act of ownership and prideful display. But the modesty panel across the crotch is the one part of the design that looks awkward to us. Surely there was a better, less obvious way of executing that.
Their hair and makeup are perfect (except for the trailing braids, which we don’t hate, but don’t love either) and the delicate earrings were a smart choice. You don’t bling up a Van Herpen. You let it breathe.
