UGLY EIGHTIES-INSPIRED FASHION! Serve it, sisters!
T’s Pick: Natasha Lyonne in Marc Jacobs at The Cut’s “How I Get It Done” Event
T’s Defense: I can’t think of anyone in 2019 who could make this look work outside of maybe Chloe Sevigny and that should be considered a very high compliment coming from this bitch. It’s quirky, it’s memorable, and somehow, it suits her perfectly. She’s got that amazing head of hair, which she has very wisely opted not to tame or shape in deference to any trends. The very best style for a naturally big-haired gal is going to be something broad-shouldered and eighties in tone. This is smart work. I honestly think she looks fantastic.
Lo’s Pick: Cate Blanchett in Gucci at The National Theatre’s Up Next Gala
Lo’s Defense: What I love most about this look is that it’s so challenging. She is not fucking around here, people. This is like that Sarah Paulson thing where female celebrities who feel they have nothing to prove are stepping out in these really loud and obnoxious looks that no one in their right mind would call “pretty.” It’s very rock-and-roll without being a cliche about it. On a technical level, I think the color story here is masterful – especially the shoes and lip, which work to balance all the green and yellow.
There you have it, kittens! You’ve been CHALLENGED.
