Kittens! We still have SO MUCH red carpetry to get to because this weekend opened the awards season floodgates and the Golden Globes were far from the only stop on the circuit. Prepare yourselves for another day of non-stop style bitching and occasional style-huzzahs. You will be happy to hear that this post is more of the latter. How could it not be? Miss Danai almost never gets it wrong and almost always gives us something fresh to look at.
Danai Gurira at Variety’s Creative Impact Awards in Salvatore Ferragamo
Having said that, we have a couple minor issues with these looks, partly because that’s what we’re paid to do and partly because we’re opinionated bitches. This dress is gorgeous. It feels a little summertime-light in tone; just a little off for an awards season red carpet, even one as relatively low-key as the Creative Impact Awards.
Danai Gurira at the BAFTA Los Angeles Tea Party in Oscar de la Renta
If there’s anyone who can make a tea length crocheted dress work, it’s her. Ironically, we’re not loving the tea length even though this is literally a tea party. And is it us or did she get the shoe situation exactly backwards? The bronze pumps from the other look would work here and these sandals would probably work better with that floaty Ferragamo.
