Former First Lady Michelle Obama and Executive Director for the “Let’s Move!” campaign Sam Kass visit The Lower Eastside Girls Club to meet and greet the members and discuss her new book “Becoming” in New York City.
Happy Monday, darlings! Here’s a shot of Miss Shelley to get your week started. Unfortunately, she’s up to her old Shelley O fashion tricks, which may cause you the same distress it caused us. Fortunately, there’s an uncommonly hot man to take the sting away. Also, it should be noted that former-FLOTUS told the young people at this event that it’s not possible to have it all at the same time so don’t stress about it: “That’s a lie. And it’s not always enough to lean in, because that shit doesn’t work all the time.”
There. Now you’re full of love and good feelings. Brace yourself for the outfit:
Okay, we overstated it just so you’d be willing to give it some slack. We don’t actually hate this, but we think the combination of massive peplum and open neckline is a bit much. This isn’t so much a propriety thing or a prudish thing as it is a proportions thing. A slightly raised and narrowed neckline would’ve balanced this out a bit more. The bottom half of the look is really cute. We just think the top could be edited a bit; not just in the neckline but the overall fit, which seems a bit large on her. Those sleeves are huge on her and the shoulder of the garment starts about 4 inches lower than her actual shoulders.
